The Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), South-East chapter has in recognition of his contribution bestowed a “Distinguished Manager” award on a former deputy governor of Abia State, Comrade Chris Akomas.
It was at the Harriet Regency Suites and Hotel in Umuahia, the Abia state capital.
At the event were the Emeritus Prof. Munzali Jibril, NIM’s President and Chairman of Council, Prof. Ogochukwu Tabugbo, APC’s BoT member, Chief Sam Nkire, APC Abia Chapter chair, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, Hon. Acho Obioma, former Abia SSG, Ralph Egbu, APC State Secretary, Mr. Augustine, Senator Chris Adighije, former Abia PDP chairman, Tony Ukasoanya amongst other dignitaries including traditional rulers from the state.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the award, Akomas said Abia state needed human and natural resources to manage the state efficiently if we would prioritize resources at “our disposal in order to grow the economy of the state.”
He, however, seized the opportunity to call for an end to hate speeches from ethnic groups in the country, stressing that Nigeria would only grow and develop in an atmosphere devoid of rancor and intolerance.
