Ex-Tanzania President, Kikwete, Daudu, Malami for African Bar conference

Lawyers under the umbrella of the African Bar Association will tomorrow throng Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital for a weeklong annual conference.

The conference, which will parade lawyers from the 54 African countries, will commence from tomorrow at the Presidential Hotel and end on August 10.

A former President of Tanzania, Dr. Jakaya Kikwete will deliver a keynote address.

This year’s theme is “Dissecting the legal and regulatory framework for doing business in Africa.”

 

In a release by the President of the African Bar Association, Hanibal Uwaifo, the conference promises to be rewarding and resourceful following on the heels of its 2016 rebirth conference in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The President, however, noted that the conference will have 20 conference sessions cutting across law, politics, good governance, legal practice and environment.

Uwaifo urged lawyers, judges, judicial officers and even government officials and businessmen and women to attend as there will be something for everyone, even if not a lawyer. Also, it will be an opportunity for networking and business development opportunities.

The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN will deliver a good will message while the Council chairman of the African Bar Association and former president of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Mr. J. B Daudu, SAN will be in attendance along with many senior lawyers across Africa.
