The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mallam Kashifu Abdullahi, has said that building a productive public, private partnership is key to the journey to build a better Nigeria.
He stated this while receiving Engr. Morenikeji Aniye, the founder and CEO of Hotspot Network Ltd, an engineering company with focus in wireless communications and broadcast network infrastructure at the corporate headquarters of the agency.
The NITDA boss, who appreciated the visit, said he is excited to see private concern making donations to the government as the norm is to see private companies requesting for assistance from government.
His words: “Private organizations are of the impression that anything given to government does not get down to the real people as it is believed that the top executives take all.
“Your coming to donate and also partner with the agency shows that our initiative is getting a buy-in of the people and this gives hope.”
Speaking earlier, Mr. Aniye said he has been watching NITDA keenly from afar and observed the giant strides achieved within a short time, while appreciating the agency’s efforts so far in digital inclusion.
He said his company is identifying with NITDA’s National Adopted Village for Smart Agriculture (NAVSA) scheme as Hotspots Network has a programme which is in tandem with the scheme named “Digital farmers club.”
The Digital Farmers Club, he explained, is the deployment of voice and data 3G, 4G and 5G to rural areas. The programme, he said, will help energize the rural community agriculturally. He added that partnership with NITDA on NAVSA scheme will help identify young farmers and women in rural areas and empower them digitally.
During the visit, Hotspot Network Ltd, donated 50 handheld devices to NITDA to support the agency’s National Adopted Village for Smart Agriculture (NAVSA) scheme.
