Patrice Evra has been suspended from Uefa-related football for SEVEN months after kicking a Marseille fan.
European football’s governing body have come down hard on the former Manchester United star after he engaged in a pre-match scuffle with a supporter earlier this month.
It means Evra will be unable to compete in Uefa football matches until June 30 2018, and the star has also been suspended by his current employers, with showdown talks over his future yet to happen.
The bizarre incident occurred before Marseille’s Europa League match against Vitoria on November 3.
Evra lost his rag during the warm-up as a group of travelling Marseille fans started to hurl insults at him from the stands.
A melee then ensued which saw the fans and some players confront each other at the side of the pitch.
Evra, 36, then escaped the attention of his team-mates by darting around the back of them before launching his attack.
The veteran aimed a kung-fu kick which appeared to connect with the side of the head of one of the fans as the tensions blew up.
Supporters reacted angrily at Marseille’s next game, flying a number of banners urging Evra to leave the club.
But the player appears to be refusing to back down after joining the Ligue 1 side less than a year ago from Juventus.
