Imo state ranks first in condom usage -UNICEF

Imo state has topped the chart in the use of condoms in South-Eastern states according to a UNICEF report released recently.

This was disclosed by Mrs Maureen Zubie-Okolo, a monitoring and evaluation specialist with United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF), at a briefing on Saturday in Enugu.

Okolo gave these statistics while unveiling the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey to journalists at the event. The official explained that Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey was carried out in 2016/2017 by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in collaboration with UNICEF and it is to be used in assisting the government in policy formulation.

According to her, the report revealed that Imo State has the highest number of condom users with a 75.9% followed closely by Anambra with 66.0% and 57.6% for Enugu.

Abia and Ebonyi states, however, has the least amount of condom usage, with Abia having 53.5% and Ebonyi having 27.5%.
