What is perceived to be parts of the agreement between the current governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun and former Governor of the state, Gbenga Daniel, seems to be coming to play as the newly sworn-in Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has given back a hotel seized from Gbenga Daniel by the past government led by Ibikunle Amosun.
Amosun seized the gigantic hotel, named Conference Hotel, eight years ago after succeeding Gbenga Daniel, with claims that they were built with state’s funds.
And since then, the hotel, which is situated at an highbrow at Oke Imosan, near Ogun State Secretariat had been taken over by weeds and rodents.
However, a visit to the hotel during the week reveals that Gbenga Daniel seems to have regained his hotel back.
During our visit to the hotel, though we weren’t allowed to enter into the premises by the two security man and woman, manning the gate, we spotted some bricklayers and labourers working on the hotel.
We also noticed that the weeds had been cleared unlike before when it was bushy, and the loads of tiles dumped long ago on the site are now clean and dusted. We also spotted some loads of sands newly poured on the site with labourers moving in and out of the hotel site.
When this reporter asked the security personnel at the gate if he could gain entrance into the hotel, he was told he cannot enter unless the Engineer orders them to do so. And when asked if the Engineer is around, they replied ‘he’s not on ground at the moment.’
