Otunba Day kickstarts Glo-powered 2019 Ojude Oba Festival, Adenuga honoured

Activities marking the 2019 Ojude Oba Festival began on Monday with the “Otunba Day” during which three prominent sons of Ijebuland were honoured at the Awujale’s palace.

The honourees were Globacom Chairman and Otunba Apesin of Ijebuland, Dr. Mike Adenuga, FCMB Chairman, Otunba Subomi Balogun and former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

The trio were honoured for their giant strides in commerce, investments and governance by the Council of Otunba in the Royal Court of the Awujale of Ijebuland.

During the ceremony 18 original artefacts recovered from all over the world were presented and displayed at the Banquet Hall, Awujale Palace, venue of the event.

As of Monday, thousands of guests have arrived Ijebu Ode from all over the country while more are expected to arrive on Tuesday for the festival.

Over 50 age groups are expected to pay homage to the paramount ruler of Ijebu Ode, the Alayeluwa, Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona during this year’s edition of the festival.

This year’s edition of the festival will also feature a raffle draw courtesy of the major sponsor, Globacom. Many lucky attendees will go home with various prizes, including tricycles and television sets.

A musical performance featuring the popular Fuji musician, Abass Akande Obesere and pop sensation, Lil’ Kesh will also hold later in the day. A beauty pageant will also hold where Miss Ojude Oba 2019 will be crowned.
