Viewers on DStv and GOtv enjoyed another great weekend of football action, with the continuation of the 2019/20 Premier League and La Liga campaigns.

In England, two of the star players were Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who each scored a goal in Arsenal’s come-from-behind 3-2 home win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

The African attacking pair for the Gunners will look to continue their form in the pick of games from the next round of the Premier League, which sees Unai Emery’s team head to ailing Manchester United for a clash on Monday night which will definitely be a must-see for viewers on SuperSport.

Another key game to look out for is the visit of champions Manchester City to Everton. The Citizens were in sublime form this past weekend as they racked up an incredible 8-0 win over Watford.

Algerian star Riyad Mahrez was one of the driving forces behind their massive win: he won a penalty (which allowed Sergio Aguero to make it 2-0 from the spot) and scored himself in the 12th minute. The North African also registered an assist for the final goal of the game, passing to Kevin De Bruyne before the Belgian rocketed home goal number eight.

In La Liga, one of the leading African players this past weekend was Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze. The Super Eagles star registered an assist as Villarreal won 2-0 at home to Real Valladolid.

The next team in Chukwueze’s sights will be Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night, as the Spanish top flight enters a busy week of action in which two full rounds will be played – a double delight for SuperSport viewers.

Another African to star in Spain this past weekend was Nigerian Ramon Azeez, who opened the scoring in Granada’s 2-0 win over champions Barcelona at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes. El Grana will be first up in midweek action when they face Real Valladolid away from home on Tuesday evening.

Other African stars who could catch the eye of SuperSport viewers in midweek La Liga games includes Ghanaians Thomas Partey for Atletico Madrid in their trip to Mallorca on Wednesday and Mubarak Wakaso for Deportivo Alaves in their away game at Real Sociedad on Thursday night.
