Prepare Nigeria for 4th industrial revolution, NITDA DG, Abdullahi tells university students

The Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE has called on Nigerians especially the University students to come up with innovations and approaches that would give support to Nigeria’s efforts in her drive towards the fourth Industrial Revolution.

Inuwa made this call today while speaking as the Chairman in the ongoing National Campus Blockchain Hackathon, with the theme “Blockchain Innovation for Sustainable Growth in Nigeria” taking place at the Nile University, Abuja.

“Nigeria as a nation has to chart a way or think of how we can use new technologies to improve our lives and boost our economy because of the inherent potentials of these technologies to transform our socio-economic lives and the sooner we adopt it the better for us”, he said.

The NITDA boss maintained that the rapid advancement in technologies and breakthrough in material sciences are already changing the way we live, work and relate with one another, adding that in the coming decades, new technologies that will drive the fourth industrial revolution, which Blockchain is part of, would surely change our world.

While stating the efforts the Agency is making in preparing the country for fourth industrial revolution, the DG explained that the Agency has developed seven strategic pillars which are interwoven and supporting government for the emerging technologies.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Blockchain Industry Association of Nigeria Banner and presentation of ‘Technology Partner Award’ to NITDA for its immense contribution to the growth and advancement of Blockchain Technology and other emerging technologies of the Fourth industrial Revolution.
