SuperSport viewers can look forward to seeing one of Africa’s top footballing sons, Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer, in action as the return of Serie A continues this weekend on DStv and GOtv
Bennacer has experienced his share of ups and downs in his first season with Milan, having joined from Empoli in mid-2019. The 22-year-old was on a major high after being the key player in Algeria’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations triumph, but life with the Rossoneri has not been quite as rosy.
Nonetheless, the Fennec Foxes midfielder has still put together a solid Serie A campaign and Milan have a chance at salvaging a place in next season’s UEFA Europa League if they can finish 2019-20 strongly.
And Bennacer himself remains very much a sought-after commodity, with media reports in recent weeks linking him with a move to the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and the Manchester clubs.
However, the Algerian does not appear interested in speculation over his future and has assured Milan fans that his ambition is to bring trophies back to the San Siro: “If I think of the history of this great club and I pull on that jersey, I just want to fight hard and give my all. I want to win everything with Milan,” said Bennacer.
He added that playing alongside the legendary Zlatan Ibrahimović has been a privilege and learning experience.
“Zlatan is that kind of player who always helps you to give your best, because he wants perfection and you have to seek it if you want to be the best. You can’t make a mistake with Zlatan around, and that’s fine with me, as it encourages me to keep getting better,” explained the Bennacer
The talented midfielder will be seen in action when Milan host Roma for a Round 28 match in Serie A on Sunday 28 June at the San Siro Stadium. The match will air live on SuperSport 9 on DStv and SuperSport Select 5 on GOtv.
