President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja from his 18-day trip to London, United Kingdom (UK).
He touched down at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 18:15 pm on Friday, 13 August.
The President was in London for the recent Global Education Summit co-hosted by the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and the Kenyan President, Mr Uhuru Kenyatta, before undergoing a scheduled medical check-up.
On arrival in Abuja, Buhari was received at the airport by some senior officials of the administration, including his Chief of Staff, Prof Ibrahim Gambari; National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (rtd); Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor; the three service chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Mohammed Musa Bello.
Speaking on Channels TV shortly after, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, explained that the health checks were only routine and “not an emergency”.
“The President is in good shape,” he added.
In the weeks President Buhari spent in the UK, he met and played host to various dignitaries including the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, who gave an assurance that the UK is available to assist Nigeria in its war against terrorism.
While in London, President Buhari also met with a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu, in the wake of the recent crisis rocking the party.
