Popular gospel singer, Sammie Okposo, is dead. He was 51.
He died a few hours to a spiritual praise event in Calabar, Cross River State where he was supposed to perform alongside other gospel artistes.
The Delta State-born singer and his wife, Ozioma, celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary on July 1.
His family has released an official statement, confirming the death.
According to the statement signed by Hector Okposo, Sammie died in the early hours of Friday, November 25.
The family also stated that details about the burial arrangements would be communicated soon.
The statement reads: “It is with a heavy heart but with total submission to God that I announce the passing of our beloved, husband, father, brother, uncle and minister of God, Sammie Okposo.
“Sammie slept and went to be with the lord on the morning of Friday, November 25, 2022. More details about the burial will be communicated soon. We are consoled because we know that he is with Jesus singing with angels. We kindly request that the family is allowed to grieve peacefully at this time.”
The 51-year-old was supposed to perform alongside other gospel singers, Eben, Chuks Praise, Joy Favour and Victor Edet at the Outpouring Assembly International in Calabar on Friday, November 25 to 27.
