“Your work is planting seeds for Nigeria’s future.” Those words, spoken by Kashifu Inuwa, Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), weren’t just motivational, they were a call to action.
At a recent gathering of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members championing the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) initiative, Inuwa delivered a challenge: lead the charge in bridging Nigeria’s digital divide.
“You are the ambassadors of a shared vision,” he said, “to empower every Nigerian with the knowledge to navigate and thrive in a digital economy.”
The DL4ALL initiative is more than a program; it’s a mission to transform underserved communities. With a target of achieving 70% digital literacy by 2027 and 95% by 2030, these youth are tasked with bringing essential skills to those who’ve been left behind in the digital wave.
“This isn’t just an investment in people,” Inuwa emphasized, “it’s an investment in our collective future.”
These corps members aren’t just trainers, they’re change-makers. Armed with intensive training in digital tools, e-commerce, cybersecurity, and financial inclusion, they’re heading into communities to show Nigerians how technology can open doors.
From helping small businesses leverage e-commerce platforms to teaching everyday citizens how to navigate online banking, their work will ripple through local economies.
For many of these young leaders, the initiative is personal. “This is an opportunity to make a real impact,” one champion shared after the event.
Their enthusiasm reflects a deeper understanding of what’s at stake: a future where no Nigerian is left behind in a world driven by digital innovation.
The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes innovation and youth empowerment. “Through your efforts,” Inuwa said, “we will unlock potential, embrace innovation, and contribute meaningfully to national development.”
This movement is collaboration at its best. NITDA, the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, the NYSC, and other partners are working together to create a digitally inclusive society.
For the youth champions, the journey is just beginning, but the vision is clear: a Nigeria where every citizen has the tools to succeed in the global knowledge economy.
As these champions step into their communities, one thing is certain, the seeds they plant today will grow into opportunities for generations to come.
