Nigeria has earned global recognition for its leadership in digital governance, winning two major awards at the 2025 Open Government Partnership (OGP) Global Summit in Spain.
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), working with civil society group Dataphyte, led Nigeria’s initiatives that secured the Regional Award for Africa and the Middle East. The country also clinched the Thematic Award as overall global winner in the Digital Governance category, beating 160 commitments from 42 countries.

The awards highlight Nigeria’s strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement through technology. NITDA’s inclusive digital strategy, built on openness and innovation, has positioned Nigeria as a trailblazer in open governance.
These achievements reflect Nigeria’s growing influence in shaping global digital governance and reaffirm its vision of making governance more participatory and technology-driven.
