The Recording Academy has unveiled nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards, spotlighting a powerful Nigerian presence across key global categories.
Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, Ayra Starr, and Omah Lay headline the African nominees, continuing the continent’s growing influence on the world stage.
Davido’s collaboration with Omah Lay, “With You,” secured a nomination for Best African Music Performance, going head-to-head with “Love” by Burna Boy and “Gimme Dat” by Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid.
Also in contention for the same category are “Hope & Love” by Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin and “PUSH 2 START” by South Africa’s Tyla.
Burna Boy further cemented his global status with an additional nomination for Best Global Music Album for his project No Sign of Weakness. He faces fierce competition from Senegal’s Youssou N’Dour (Eclairer le Monde—Light the World), Benin’s Angélique Kidjo, and India’s Anoushka Shankar (Chapter III: We Return to Light).
The 68th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, celebrating works released between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025.
This year’s ceremony also introduces two new categories—Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover—expanding the Academy’s recognition of diverse music forms.
