Afrobeats star John Saviours Udomboso, also known as Young Jonn, has pushed back the release of his highly anticipated album “Blue Disco,” citing the worsening insecurity across the country.
The singer announced the postponement in a statement on his X page on Friday, saying the atmosphere of fear, grief and uncertainty “has become unbearable” and makes it difficult to celebrate or promote new music. He added that the current moment calls for empathy and collective responsibility rather than entertainment rollouts.
Young Jonn said he is deeply pained by the continuous reports of violence and kidnapping nationwide, stressing that Nigeria needs both decisive leadership and active citizen engagement to confront the crisis.
The artist did not confirm a new release date but assured fans that “Blue Disco” will arrive once the environment feels more stable and respectful of the emotions many Nigerians are currently battling.
“It’s disheartening that Nigeria is still confronted with such overwhelming challenges; the insecurity has become unbearable, and it’s very clear that the leaders and we citizens must rise to do better, even as we pray for God’s strength to guide and sustain us through these difficult times. In light of these, I’ve decided to postpone the release of my album BLUE DISCO to a later date.” He wrote.
Wizkid, Rema, Asake, and Olamide are just a few of the well-known artists who collaborated on the album, which was scheduled for release on November 21, 2025.
Young Jonn ended his post on X with a prayer for peace and healing throughout Nigeria, even though a new release date for “Blue Disco” has not been announced.
“Above all, I’m praying for healing across our nation, that God restores peace, unity, and hope to Nigeria,” he added.
