The General Overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has lauded the United States over the Christmas Day airstrikes which were targeted at the enclaves of ISWAP and ISIS members in Sokoto State.
Bishop Oyedepo who described the US action as a divine intervention and a major turning point for Christians facing years of violence and persecution in Nigeria, said it was the answer to prayers by Christians for God’s intervention.
While speaking during a sermon on Sunday, Oyedepo described the US military action as a
judgement landing in Nigeria and a response to prolonged insecurity, killings, and kidnappings across the country.
The cleric said the development followed sustained prayers, including midnight intercessions, which he claimed God had answered by stepping into the battlefield.
“Those responsible for causing grief and mourning would now face consequences; fear had shifted from victims to perpetrators,” he told the congregation.
The bishop also said the airstrikes also sent a broader message to Nigeria that any alleged agenda to Islamise Nigeria had been permanently defeated.
“Nigeria would never be Islamised. The extremist groups operating in forests and rural communities have lost control and would not recover from the divine judgement of God Almighty,” he said, while predicting a significant improvement in Nigeria’s security situation, saying kidnapping and armed attacks would soon become history.
“This is just the beginning. Those who make others møurn and sl@ughter innocent people will also møurn. Judgment has begun. God told me He would step in, and He has finally stepped in concerning Nigeria’s problems.”
