The Lagos State Police Command has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to probe Pastor Chris Okafor following a wave of sex-related allegations leveled against him by several women.
The directive was issued by the Commissioner of Police after the allegations gained widespread attention on social media, triggering public outrage and calls for a formal investigation.
Among those who have made accusations is Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, whose claims have further intensified scrutiny of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry founder.
The allegations, which surfaced through viral videos and social media posts, include accusations of sexual misconduct and abuse of trust, though no formal charges have yet been announced.
Police sources confirmed that the SCID has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation to determine the veracity of the claims and establish whether any criminal offences were committed.
The Lagos State Police Command said the probe is part of its commitment to ensuring accountability and upholding the rule of law, especially in cases that attract significant public interest.
Abimbola Adebisi, a spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, disclosed on Sunday that the police commissioner had directed the SCID to handle the situation.
“Even though no one has formally come forward to report, the CP has instructed the SCID to invite the pastor for investigation,” Adebisi stated.
The development comes amid mounting pressure from civil society groups and members of the public urging authorities to take decisive action on the matter.
As investigations begin, the police have urged all parties involved to cooperate fully while cautioning the public against spreading unverified information as the case unfolds.
