President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria and Rwandan President Paul Kagame met for a private lunch in Paris on Sunday, where they discussed global affairs and strategies to advance Africa’s development amid growing international challenges.
In a post on X, Tinubu said the meeting focused on shaping Africa’s future in the context of a rapidly evolving global landscape.
“This afternoon, I had a private lunch with H. E. President Paul Kagame of Rwanda to discuss the current state of world affairs and advancing Africa in an ever-changing global landscape,” Tinubu wrote.
Tinubu departed Lagos for Europe on December 28, 2025, for an end-of-year break. According to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president will proceed to Abu Dhabi for an official engagement after his time in Europe.
He has been invited by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to participate in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), scheduled for early January.
The annual summit brings together leaders from government, business, and civil society to chart pathways for sustainable development. The 2026 edition, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” will focus on innovation, finance, and people, aiming to connect ambition with action.
The Presidency confirmed that Tinubu will return to Nigeria after the summit.
