The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has renewed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s call for unity and reconciliation within the All Progressives Congress APC.
He urged party leaders to deepen engagement with stakeholders, strengthen cohesion, and sustain reconciliation efforts across the country, especially during the festive period.
Hon. Kalu made the appeal on Monday during courtesy visits across Abia North, Central and South senatorial zones to reinforce party structures and unity.
In Abia North, he visited former Abia State Governor and ex-Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
At Abia Central, he met Senator John Bob Nwannunu, while in Abia South he visited APC chieftain and former Hallmark Bank Managing Director, Sir Mac Wabara.
Across all meetings, discussions focused on party unity, internal consolidation, and sustained collaboration for political stability and party growth.
The Deputy Speaker said the President’s message was clear: leaders must reach out, set aside divisions, and work together for a stronger party and nation.
He described the season as a time for reflection, reconciliation, and renewed commitment to inclusive governance.
Speaking on national politics, Hon. Kalu urged the Igbo to be strategic and pragmatic in their political decisions.
He said votes should be “invested, not wasted,” stressing that strong alliances offer the clearest path to an Igbo presidency.
According to him, supporting the South West at this time would build trust, inclusion and political reciprocity.
Hon. Kalu reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu’s vision, party unity, and the advancement of the South East within Nigeria’s political framework.
He assured stakeholders of his commitment to effective representation and inclusive governance.
The lawmaker also presented his two-year scorecard to elder statesmen and party leaders, inviting open criticism of his performance.
“I believe leadership must be subjected to scrutiny. I presented my two-year scorecard and asked them to honestly assess what I have done so far, so I can do better,” he said.
Hon. Kalu called on party stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He declared that the era of negotiating for just 25 percent votes in Abia State was over.
According to him, the APC now has the structure, momentum and political capital to secure outright victory in the state.
He expressed confidence that Abia APC is well positioned to win convincingly for President Tinubu in future elections.

He said President Tinubu had shown willingness to work with the Igbo, citing inclusive project allocation and political engagement.
“He’s a listening President, I beg of you let us stand by him, and his current policies,” he added.
The elder statesmen commended Hon. Kalu’s performance at the National Assembly, describing his contributions as impactful and people-focused.
They praised his openness in presenting his scorecard, noting it showed transparency, humility and accountability.
The leaders pledged continued support and promised to strengthen party structures and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.
