Amidst the swirling political winds in Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has made a passionate appeal to the people to remain steadfast and peaceful. Speaking during a special Inter-Denominational Church Service on Sunday, January 11, 2026, the Governor anchored his administration’s resilience in divine grace.
The service, held at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Port Harcourt, was organized to commemorate the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day.
Addressing the congregation, Governor Fubara emphasized that his calm demeanor in the face of recent challenges is not a sign of weakness, but a reflection of his spiritual foundation. He urged residents to avoid panic and trust in the pursuit of lasting stability for the state.
“I know what I have. I know that I have what is supreme, and that is God. So I want everyone to be relaxed. What is important is peace for this dear state, and we will get it by the special name of God,” the Governor declared.
Fubara reaffirmed that his government’s “central objective” remains the entrenchment of peace, which he believes can only be achieved through responsible leadership and unwavering faith.
The Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu, also spoke at the event, shifting the focus to the importance of legacy and the spiritual support that has kept the administration afloat during turbulent times. She paid a moving tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes and veterans before making a direct plea for continued intercession.
“But I want to solemnly say to all of us that as we have come today to pray for legionnaires, for the wives of fallen heroes, and the husbands of fallen heroines, please continue to uphold the government of Sir Siminalayi Fubara and my humble self in prayers,” Prof. Odu said.
She added: “Prayers have sustained us so far, and we believe they will continue to sustain us in the mighty name of Jesus.”
The sermon was delivered by the Most Reverend Blessing Enyindah, Archbishop of the Niger Delta Province. Anchoring his message on Judges 5:1–10, the Archbishop spoke on the theme “Only Remembered by What We Have Done.”
Archbishop Enyindah commended the Governor for his consistent support of the Nigerian Armed Forces and challenged all leaders to consider the mark they will leave behind. He reminded the audience that true blessing comes from justice and helping others.
“When we serve God with our hearts and light, we shall be remembered. What shall you be remembered for?” the Archbishop asked pointedly.
