The United States has suspended the immigrant visa process from Nigeria and 74 other countries. A State Department official confirmed to the media on Wednesday.
“The State Department is pausing immigrant visa processing for 75 countries,” the official stated.
In a memo seen by Fox News Digital, 27 countries in Africa, 22 in Asia, eight in Europe, three in South America, 13 in North America and Caribbean and one in Oceania were affected by the move which will begin on January 21.
“Consular officers have been directed to refuse visas under existing law while the department reassesses its screening and vetting procedures,” the memo stated.
The development is part of President Donald Trump’s move to restrict entry of foreigners to the U.S.
