Popular Nigerian skitmaker Mark Angel is at the centre of online controversy following a series of disturbing allegations made by his ex-wife during a viral social media challenge.
The woman participated in the trending “Put a Finger Down” challenge, which encourages users to share personal experiences. In her videos, she recounted what she described as traumatic episodes from a past marriage, making claims that social media users quickly linked to Mark Angel, despite her not mentioning any name.
Among her allegations made on Tuesday was that her then-partner persuaded her to engage in a threesome with a stranger on their wedding night, instructing her to misrepresent his identity to make the situation appear less awkward. She also alleged repeated emotional and psychological abuse throughout the marriage.
According to her, the partner frequently body-shamed her after childbirth, allegedly telling her he was no longer attracted to her body and criticising her for stretch marks. She claimed this pressure led her to undergo cosmetic surgery to “fix” aspects of her body he was reportedly uncomfortable with.
She further alleged that he regularly belittled her in front of friends, including mocking her cooking skills, and accused him of inappropriate relationships with other women. In one instance, she claimed he brought a woman into their home under the guise of friendship, only for her to later hear intimate sounds from another room.
Additional claims included accusations that he would prioritise former partners over her, including allegedly leaving their home in the early hours to attend to an ex, and that he once told her he had a terminal illness with only a few years to live, a claim she says has since proven untrue.
While she refrained from naming the individual involved, social media users have drawn conclusions based on her past relationship history, noting that Mark Angel is the only man she has been publicly married to and shares a child with.
As of the time of filing this report, Mark Angel has not publicly responded to the allegations. The claims remain unverified, and no legal action has been announced by either party.
