President Bola Tinubu on Thursday met separately with the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and his Plateau State counterpart, Caleb Mutfwang, at the State House, Abuja.
The meetings took place at the President’s office.
Makinde arrived shortly after Mutfwang and proceeded directly to the President’s office.
In a chat with State House correspondents after the meeting, Makinde called for bipartisan approach in addressing Nigeria’s challenges
He said: “We may have issues in this country where you need a bipartisan approach, where there won’t be an issue of APC talking alone or PDP talking alone.
“A situation where we will have to look at what is the best foot forward in the interest of our nation.
“So, when you get to that junction, you need everybody on board.”
The meetings come amid ongoing political realignments and consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Makinde is a key member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a leading opposition party in the country.
Mutfwang, who recently dumped the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC), did not speak with journalists after his meeting with the President.
