The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into an alleged assault and robbery involving popular actor and skit maker, Ganiyu Morufu, known as Ijoba Lande.

Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed via X on Friday, February 6, 2026, that the officers accused in the incident have been identified and are currently in custody. According to her statement, the officers, the actor, and his friend are providing statements as part of an ongoing investigation.

In a video circulating on social media, Ijoba Lande is seen seated in a vehicle with visible injuries, including bleeding from the left side of his face and multiple bruises. Speaking in Yoruba, he asked for water while people around him attempted to calm him and suggested heading to a police station to file a report.

A voice in the background of the video alleged that officers from Area J Police Station were responsible for the attack, repeatedly mentioning the station’s name and suggesting wrongdoing. By the end of the clip, the group appears to have arrived at a police facility, where the actor seemed more composed.

The caption accompanying the video claimed that Ijoba Lande was also robbed during the incident, losing his iPhone 16 Pro Max and $1,200 said to belong to his brother. He stated that he had returned from the UK six days earlier and “nearly lost his life” during the encounter.
