Frontline activist and co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls movement, Aisha Yesufu, has charged the Nigerian Senate to impeach its President, Godswill Akpabio over the electronic result transmission saga.
Yesufu who gave the charged in a post on her verified X handle on Monday, called on the senators to stop saying Akpabio is the problem of the Senate and take a bold step by impeaching him with immediate effect instead of playing the role of both the bad and good cop.
She noted that while senators have the constitutional powers to ensure that real-time electronic transmission of election results is passed into law, the Senate President is taking them and Nigerians for granted by his actions.
“Dear Senators, stop playing bad cop, good cop with us. None of you is blameless,” she wrote.
“You are either active or passive participants to disenfranchise the Nigerian people and subvert their power to choose who governs them.
“You all are supposed to be the voices of the people. Instead of press conferences, twitter spaces and media appearances, go to the red chambers and fight for the soul of Nigeria!
“You have the constitutional power and authority to ensure that real-time electronic transmission of election is passed into law. You did with state of emergency in Rivers State.
“Stop telling us Akpabio is the problem! You all have the power to impeach Akpabio. DO IT,” the activist added.
