President Bola Tinubu has nominated Amb. Ismail Yusuf as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
Yusuf will replace Prof. Abdullahi Usman, who resigned this week after about 14 months in office.
The nomination is however subject to Senate confirmation, in line with Section 3(2) of the NAHCON Act, 2006.
President Tinubu had since written to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, requesting the nominee’s confirmation.
Yusuf is a career diplomat and served as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkey from 2021 to 2024..
