The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has assured that the party would promote credible elections and stronger democratic institutions in the country.
He spoke on Thursday in Abuja while presenting certificates of return to members of the (APC) National Working Committee elected during the party’s national convention held last month in Abuja.
The NWC members were re-elected through affirmative votes and will steer the party’s affairs for four years.
Yilwatda said the convention would rank among the party’s best ever.
“The convention will go down in history without a single litigation. It felt more like a carnival than a convention.
“The internal wrangling that used to trail conventions was completely absent,” he said.
He praised the Central Coordination Planning Committee for delivering an “excellent, elegant, well-organised and transparent” process.
The chairman added that the convention set a new benchmark, describing it as one of the most remarkable held in the country.
Yilwatda pledged strong performance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the new NWC would deepen democracy, uphold party values, and expand membership through engagement and mobilisation.
“We must keep our party strong and focused, with clear policies, candidates and direction for Nigeria.
“Our responsibility is to strengthen democracy and build confidence in the political process.
“The APC will work towards credible elections and stronger democratic institutions.
“We will ensure results at all levels, from governors to legislators, and commit all efforts to our candidates’ success,” the APC chairman added.
Yilwatda also pledged close collaboration with stakeholders, state governors and the Federal Government to ensure unity and coordination.
He reaffirmed commitment to responsible leadership and national development.
The Chairman of the Convention Coordination Committee, Aminu Masari,urged the new NWC to act with integrity.
He prayed for guidance, protection and wisdom in carrying out their duties.
“Parties face intense pressure during primaries. I hope we resist temptation and do what is right for our party and country.
“We have delivered and issued certificates to the new NWC members. With their commitment, we expect a renewed and motivated committee.
“If we want progress, we must believe tomorrow can be better than today,” Masari stated.
