Goldberg Empowers 15 Ogun Artisans With ₦4.5 Million

Goldberg Empowers 15 Ogun Artisans With ₦4.5 Million

…As Isedowo Climaxes

Fifteen more artisans have been empowered by Isedowo, Goldberg empowerment scheme launched last August to uplift and support artisans and entrepreneurs in the Southwest. The new set of beneficiaries received their reward of ₦300,000 each at the climax of the initiative in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Friday, February 9, 2018.

With the conclusion of the activations across the southwest region, Isedowo has now fulfilled its promise by giving N30 million cash grants to 100 artisans in Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo and Ogun States.

Emmanuel Agu, Portfolio Manager, Mainstream Lager and Stout Brands, Nigerian Breweries Plc, said that he is impressed with the thousands of artisans that showed interest in the scheme during its maiden edition and that it demonstrated the willingness and drive of youths to start their own businesses.

“With this first edition of Isedowo, artisans and entrepreneurs have experienced the elimination of poverty and unemployment by offering business grants that would help to grow local businesses,” he said.

Agu further revealed that the second edition of the empowerment scheme would start in few months, and charged entrepreneurs and artisans in the southwest to be alert and ready for the opportunity as more local businesses would spring up in the economy with the ₦300,000 business grant to each beneficiary.

Gbenga Ogundairo, a shoe cobbler and one of the beneficiaries in Abeokuta, said that “being an entrepreneur is paying off in Nigeria at last.” He commended Goldberg and Nigerian Breweries Plc for making Nigeria a better place to invest in, particularly by helping to promote small scale business owners. “With a scheme like Isedowo, it pays to be an entrepreneur and be very good at what you do, so that when opportunities like these arise, we can tap into them to grow our value chain,” he stated.

“Nigerian Breweries Plc and Goldberg have contributed to growing small businesses in Nigeria, and their efforts should be emulated by other corporate bodies for our economy to grow. I thank Nigerian Breweries Plc for the support,” he further said.

Sesan Ayanlowo and Adegboyega Joseph, another set of beneficiaries, also commended Nigerian Breweries for the Isedowo initiative, saying that the scheme would encourage not just the “ready-made” business owners, but also prospective businesses through the credible platform of empowerment that Isedowo has offered the business environment.

Azeez Lawal, an auto mechanic, said that Isedowo would make the vision of Nigeria to be reckoned with as an industrial superpower possible as it has supported more businesses in the economy these past few months. “It is very difficult to start up and sustain a business in Nigeria. However, with an initiative like Isedowo, youths can make the effort and be better at their craft and pray that someday, a business grant like that offered by Isedowo would come to support them,” he said.

It was a mirthful night as most small business owners, artisans and indigenes in Ogun State and its environs trooped to the venue to witness the celebration of hard working artisans and entrepreneurs in the state. Popular Afro hip hop sensation, Seriki thrilled the audience, while star actor, Odunlade Adekola spiced up the night with comic performances as the host.

25 Artisans Laud Goldberg for Isedowo Scheme in Ibadan

Twenty five artisans who received N300,000 each during Isedowo activation in Ibadan, Oyo State have commended Goldberg, premium quality lager beer from the stable of Nigerian Breweries, for the empowerment scheme which intervened in the financial challenges facing their businesses.

The event, which was well attended by a cross-section of artisans and citizens of the state with diverse interests, was held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Friday, February 2, 2018.

The beneficiaries included auto mechanics, fashion designers, caterers, hair dressers, panel beaters, cobblers, traders and dry cleaners, all chosen through a rigorous but transparent process.

At the end of the empowerment campaign, 100 artisans across the Southwest region will be rewarded by Goldberg with N300,000 through Isedowo. Activations have been successfully concluded in Osun, Ekiti and Ondo States where 60 artisans received similar grants.

Expressing his joy at the cheque presentation ceremony, Orimadegun Ishola, one of the beneficiaries, said the scheme is laudable and worth emulating.

Ishola, a trader in bags and shoes, stated that he could now expand his business by buying more products for sale. “The empowerment scheme is timely and a huge relief,” he said.

Bakare Michael Taiwo, a panel beater, praised Goldberg for creating wealth and job opportunities in the Southwest. He said the grant would enhance his business as he would now be able to purchase additional working tools and build a workshop he had longed to have.

He affirmed: “Isedowo has taken that burden off me and has put smiles on faces of people in distress.”

Tolulope Soremi, a dry cleaner, who also extolled the brand, said he would buy a washing machine with the grant, while an elated Folake Sunday Christiana, a caterer, stated that she would buy an industrial oven used for baking about 300 meat-pies and a cutting machine with the grant. She added that Isedowo has made 2018 a blessed year for her. “I can now run my business with ease,” she said excitedly.

Commenting on the scheme, the Portfolio Manager, Mainstream Lager and Stout brands at Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr. Emmanuel Agu said the entrepreneurial intervention is part of Goldberg’s strong resolve to eliminate poverty and unemployment among people of the Southwest, especially artisans who have little or no capital to invest or expand their businesses.

According to him, Isedowo would in no small measure improve the living standard of people in the region. “Goldberg through Isedowo has deepened its connection with the people of the Southwest by supporting their economic aspirations,” Agu said.

He disclosed that the next Isedowo empowerment scheme will take place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Friday, February 9, 2018.

To benefit from the initiative, interested participants are expected to showcase their business ideas and how they impact the society.

Homework Restores Foreign Investors’ Trust on Real Estate Sector

Homework Development and Properties Limited has restored the trust foreign investors once had on the Nigerian real estate sector.

This is the major outcome of the recent conference, organised by the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA) in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, where the Lagos-based leading real estate company showcased its affordable products and promoted the recent positive developments in real estate industry in Nigeria.

Reflecting on the conference attended by several hundreds of physicians and other professionals, the Director of Homework Development and Properties Limited, Architect Jide Adekola said it provided a platform that helped to change the perception that foreign investors would not get value for money or might get scammed in Nigeria. It also created the awareness that there are professionals in the sector who are able to provide quality products in due time.

“The change in perception, which we have created, would in no small measure boost businesses and increase the volume of foreign direct investments that can engender increase in gross domestic product of the country, “Adekola said.

L-R: Dr. Nnamdi Maduabum; Dr. Olusola Oyemade, both members of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA); Architect Chima Emerueh and Architect Jide Adekola, both Directors of Homework Development and Properties Limited; during the annual conference organised by ANPA in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.

He affirmed that ANPA members, who have benefited from the unswerving services of the company, specifically requested that Homework should participate in the conference in order to take the Nigerian success story to the outside world.

According to Adekola, the event has exposed Homework to ANPA’s publications, increased networking and sales leads, the needs of customers and the property market, increased trust in foreign investors in the Nigerian real estate market, and has boosted awareness that there is a unique selling point in the company’s products which are delivered by professional architects.

He explained that the real estate sector, which is inundated with issues of trust, lack of finance and presence of charlatan, can be saved if government subsidises the cost of land for credible developers who have the capacity to provide affordable housing.

Adekola added that Homework would also take part in the annual conference organised by the National Association of Nigerian Nurses in North America and other subdivisions within the United States. This would enable the company reach out to other professional associations and more Nigerians in the globe.

Homework is also planning to hold similar exhibition and talks in Canada, the United Kingdom and other countries with large population of Nigerians.

A SEASON OF LOVE AND CHARITABLE CAUSES IN IKOLE-EKITI

Posted By: adminon: January 04, 2018In: Features, News, Top StoriesNo Comments
A SEASON OF LOVE AND CHARITABLE CAUSES IN IKOLE-EKITI

What do you see when you fix your gaze upon the indigents and less privileged? Some would see a people requiring your pity while others would see the fierce urgency to grow, perhaps financially, materially and otherwise, in order to be the change they want to see in the world.

You might think that all they require is your unrestrained show of sympathy and the giving of alms and hand-outs. Yes, they do require these things and more. However, that is not all you can do. Rather than your perpetual pity or periodic pittance, they will be glad to have support to enable them evolve and manifest their potential and latent possibilities. By helping out in this direction, you will not only have and possess enough to make substantial contributions to assuage their plight, but your story and presence will automatically give them the opportunity and permission to do the same.

Charities all over the world help to save and improve people’s lives – fighting diseases, protecting children, and giving hope to thousands of people. In Ikole Ekiti, Ekiti State, one of its illustrious sons, Funso Ayeni celebrated his 40th birthday and offered to inspire the less privileged. The celebration attracted indigenes as well as relatives, friends and well-wishers from far and near who trooped to rejoice with the philanthropist on the occasion.

Among the series of commemorative activities was a town storming by the indigenes tagged ‘Walk for Hope,’ an annual early morning activity of the Funso Ayeni Foundation (FAF). “It is one of the many ways we foster unity, rekindle hopes and reinforce the benefits in togetherness. The fifth anniversary of this activity coincides with my 40th birthday celebrations, hence the entire family and the FAF Boards of Trustees decided to increase the scope this year,” Ayeni explained. Over 30,000 participants were involved in the Walk for Hope event.

Speaking about how he feels at 40, Ayeni confessed that he was overwhelmed by the show of love from friends, relatives and indigenes who stormed the town from far and near to celebrate the new chapter in his life. “Forty has dawned on me to count God’s blessings in my life. I realise age is not just a number, but the fulfilment of purpose on earth. It’s been so fulfilling, exciting and more rewarding,” he admitted.

Ayeni celebrated by intensifying his humanitarian efforts to give hopes to thousands of indigenes and improve their life through gifts and other opportunities for youths’ expression in the community.  The activities were coordinated by the FAF. “I believe so strongly that we are created for a purpose. Conceived to serve as many as possible, FAF’s Hope for All initiative seeks to renew the hope of the common man and helps to rekindle the optimism in their existence. “Through the initiative, many ‘HOPES’ have been restored and many reawakened,” the celebrant affirmed.

The foundation is increasingly gaining and gradually achieving its desired objectives. Ayeni said that it would continue to do more in the near future to raise the standard of living of indigenes and others in the society. “Through the supports from families, friends and other charity organisations, we introduced ATEWO ENI to support the ‘active poor’ in the society. Through this, we aimed at alleviating poverty by encouraging those that can work and make a living for themselves doing petty trading rather than begging. It is a continuous programme and we hope to touch as many as we can before the next annual celebration,” he revealed.

Some of the beneficiaries and indigenes expressed delight at the initiative and commended the celebrant for coming to the aid of the community to make an impact. They prayed for him to have prosperous years in good health and wealth to champion the causes of the foundation. Hundreds have benefited and the Foundation is increasing the number daily.

It was indeed an atmosphere of love and sharing with loads of entertainment that featured the popular gospel singer, Tope Alabi thrilling the crowd. Popular afro pop singer, Iledare Oluwajuwonlo, known by his stage name of Jaywon, was also present to spice up the occasion with his rhythmic melodies. Other fuji and pop stars also lightened up the occasion with popular Nollywood star Odunlade Adekola as the compere.

His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II was represented at the event, while other notable personalities included High Chief Tunde Ogunleye, Ekiti State Commissioner for Public Utilities, Mr Deji Adesua and the 24 Obas in Ikole Local Government Area of the state.

NIPR Lagos chapter Chairman, Mr. Olusegun McMedal, explained that TPT International was selected as the ‘Best Agency to Work’ through a survey of agency employees, which scored the organisation high on a range of parameters such as integrity of senior management team, quality of professional development, creativity, empowerment, risk-taking, staff welfare, mobility, retention and emolument.

L-R: Chief Operating Officer, TPT International Limited, Muyiwa Akintunde; former President, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Mazi Mike Okereke; Chairman/Lead Strategist, TPT International, Adetokunbo Modupe; and Chairman, NIPR, Lagos State Chapter, Olusegun McMedal, at the presentation of the ‘Best Agency to Work’ award to TPT International by the Lagos State Chapter of NIPR at a gala night held in Victoria Island, Lagos… Thursday.

Former NIPR President, Mazi Mike Okereke, who presented the ‘Best Place to Work’ award to TPT International, described the agency’s approach as innovative and pace-setting. The foremost PR practitioner said TPT International is renowned as a dream agency for practitioners, which is a proof of its leadership position.

Lead Strategist of TPT International, Adetokunbo Modupe, who dedicated the awards to his team, described the recognitions as a validation of the company’s focus in managing clients’ perception in line with global standards and result delivery, as well as its determination to emerge as one of the most-sought reputation managing firms in Africa.

“In today’s PR world, story-telling driven by creative and persuasive content generation has become a major driver for perception management, which my team and I have used in firming our belief in innovation and professionalism in our practice. Our edge in the industry is our creative solution to clients’ briefs,” he said.

Toks, as he is fondly called, said his firm would continue to innovate ideas to make PR practice more relevant to brands and the economy. This, he said, “is confirmed by our philosophy in challenging the logic and subjecting existing principles and processes to intellectual and rigorous scrutiny with a view to delivering better results.” He added that the company was test-running new mechanisms that would revolutionalise the Nigerian PR practice.

Other recipients of NIPR awards included the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele; Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Dr. Tunde Fowler; Director of Public Affairs at the Nigerian Communications Commission, Tony Ojobo; and Chevron, while Okereke delivered the dinner lecture urging PR professionals to rise up to the challenge of rebranding the country.

TPT International and Modupe are serial award winners. Earlier in the year, Modupe, a former Secretary General of Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN), won the Outstanding PR Personality of the Decade at an industry-based recognition event organised by Marketing Edge Awards.

Other awards in the last decade included the Most Friendly PR Agency of the Year, PR Agency of the Year, Outstanding PR Agency of the Decade, Most Outstanding PR Campaign of the Year and PR Company of the Year.

Founded by Modupe almost 20 years ago, TPT International is a perception management firm with a globally aligned structure. It is unarguably one of Africa’s most sought-after PR agencies.

It provides strategic PR and communications services to high-flying companies in several sectors of the economy – manufacturing, brewery, FMCG, food and beverages, energy, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, tobacco, banking and finance, real estate, media, education, construction, health, government, etc.

TPT International maintains practice areas in media relations, crisis management, brand PR, corporate communications, lobbying, lifestyle communication, public affairs, social media conversation management, etc.

Some of the companies it has worked for and still working for include: Nigerian Breweries Plc, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Lagos Business School, Buildcon Global Services, mediaReach OMD, Reckitt Benckiser, General Electric West Africa, Heritage Bank, Lenovo, WFM 97.1 Radio Station, British American Tobacco Company, Pfizer, MTN Nigeria, Lagos Lotto, Guinness Nigeria, Procter & Gamble West Africa, British Council, Starcomms Plc, MasterCard, and many others.
