Veteran actress, singer and fashion designer, Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G for General, has given a brief narrative of her journey into the make believe industry.
According to the 62 years old Enugu State-born Institute of Management and Technology Enugu graduate of Fine and Applied Arts, she was dragged into Nollywood by some actors who saw the talent in her while she was a fashion designer.
She made the revelation in an Instagram post she tagged “Early years in Nollywood” accompanied with a photo of hers then, which she captioned “Eyes firmly on the goal”.
The energetic actress who was married at age 19 and has three biological children and five adopted ones who all bear her name wrote:
“Fun fact: I was introduced to Nollywood by Chief Zebrudaya (Chika Okpala) and Pete Eneh (May God continue to rest his soul).
“They were my class mates in ESUTE mature university program. They couldn’t believe how much I made them laugh everyday in class.”
Continuing, Mama G, who says her life’s biggest regret was not being able to marry the man of her choice, and also her children preventing her from remarrying after she lost her husband in the year 2000 said: “They practically dragged me into Nollywood (story for another day). Before then I was doing radio drama and stage play.”
