NITDA Pioneers ICT Training in Jigawa State to Fuel Digital Economy

In a dynamic move to propel Jigawa State into the digital forefront, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, urged Jigawa’s youth to embrace Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills. This call to action resonated during the launch of a groundbreaking ICT training program, sponsored by the state government, aimed at empowering 1000 youths across the state.

In collaboration with the Jigawa State government, NITDA, Base University, and IDEAS, the initiative orchestrated by the Jigawa State Development Agency for Youth Empowerment and Employment signals a strategic leap forward in harnessing digital literacy to unlock economic opportunities and expedite development.

“The world is shifting from paper qualifications to skills,” emphasized Kashifu Inuwa, underscoring the indispensable role of ICT competencies in driving sustainable development and self-reliance. “This training,” he continued, “will enable Jigawa State to reclaim its pioneering status in Nigeria’s ICT landscape.”

NITDA remains steadfast in its commitment to partnering with state governments nationwide to democratize digital literacy, catalyzing inclusive participation in the national digital economy to combat poverty and its attendant challenges.

Governor Umar Namadi, represented by Deputy Governor Aminu Usman Gumel, lauded NITDA’s multifaceted intervention programs, attributing the state’s recent strides to their impactful initiatives.

Dr. Habibu Ubale, Director General of Jigawa State Agency for Youth Empowerment and Employment, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the pivotal role of ICT skills in fostering sustainable economic growth.

The training, meticulously curated to encompass five pivotal areas including Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Development, holds the promise of nurturing a cadre of young talents poised to spearhead digital advancement in Jigawa and beyond.
