President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday extended his congratulations to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State following his decisive re-election victory, interpreting the outcome as a powerful affirmation of the Governor’s performance over his first term in office.

In a formal statement released by the presidency, Tinubu celebrated the magnitude of the win, which also secured a notable place for Soludo in the state’s political record books. “I congratulate Professor Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election as the governor of Anambra State. The overwhelming victory he recorded in Saturday’s poll has now made him the third governor in the state’s political history to win a second term,” the President said.

The President praised the returning governor—who is affectionately known as “Mr. Solution”—for injecting intellectual rigor, fiscal discipline, and transparent management into the state’s governance structure. According to the President, Soludo’s re-election is “a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance.”

Tinubu specifically highlighted the successful application of academic and economic knowledge to public service, a trait for which the former Central Bank Governor is known. “Governor Soludo has demonstrated that knowledge is power and that academic principles can be applied in serving the people. Under him, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation,” Tinubu stated.

Recalling his May visit to Anambra, during which he commissioned several major projects undertaken by the Soludo administration, the President described the experience as “remarkable and indelible,” noting that the initiatives reflected “good thinking and purposeful leadership.”

The President also took the opportunity to commend all stakeholders involved in the electoral process, including the people of Anambra, the security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for the election’s peaceful and successful conduct.

Acknowledging that Soludo ran and won on the platform of the opposition All Grand Progressives Alliance (AGPA), Tinubu asserted that the victory reinforces the strength of Nigeria’s democratic ethos and the principle that “victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be encumbered or denied.”

He further commended the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team, urging the commission to maintain and improve on the standards set during the poll to deepen Nigeria’s electoral system.

Concluding his message, President Tinubu called on Governor Soludo to demonstrate magnanimity in victory by reaching out and working with his opponents from the concluded contest. He also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to supporting the state government. “I assure Governor Soludo of my unwavering support, and I look forward to continued collaboration between Anambra and the Federal Government,” he said.
