President Bola Tinubu has ordered a total security cordon over forests in Kwara following recent kidnappings and terrorist activities in the state.

The Special Adviser on Media and Policy to the President, Sunday Dare, disclosed this in a statement on his verified X handle on Tuesday.

He said the President also directed the Nigerian Air Force to expand air surveillance across the innermost parts of forests in Kwara where terrorists are believed to be hiding.

Dare added that NAF was mandated to maintain 24-hour surveillance and synchronise operations with troops on the ground.

He stated that the directive also applies to the Kebbi and Niger axis, where more rescue operations are expected.

Gunmen on Monday abducted 11 persons in Isapa, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The incident occurred just 48 hours after 38 worshippers abducted by criminals in the neighbouring Eruku community in the state regained their freedom.
