The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has informed passport applicants and the general public to expect temporary disruptions on its Passport Digital Platform as the agency undertakes scheduled system maintenance.

In a public notice issued Friday via its official X account and signed by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the NIS stated that the maintenance exercise will run from 12:00 a.m. on December 12 to 6:00 a.m. on December 14, 2025 (GMT).

According to the agency, the exercise is aimed at optimising system efficiency and improving user experience.

“During this period, users will experience temporary service interruptions, slow response times, or limited access to selected NIS Passport Services,” the statement read.

The Service appealed for public understanding, stressing that the maintenance is essential to sustaining a secure and reliable digital passport environment. It assured applicants that its technical teams are working continuously to restore full services within the stipulated timeframe.

The NIS also advised users who encounter difficulties during the downtime to contact its support team via support@immigration.gov.ng or through its verified social media channels.
