The founder and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International (OFM), Apostle Johnson Suleman, has threatened to file a lawsuit against activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, for alleged defamation of his character and hypocrisy under the guise of fighting for Nigeria.
Apostle Suleman who made the treat in a post on his X handle on Saturday, accused Sowore who is also the publisher of Sahara Reporters, of always fabricating stories and dragging his name into them.
He stated that Sowore had consistently written false stories about him and involving people he had never met, despite repeated warnings to retract the claims.
The cleric warned that after eight years of such acts from Sowore, his tolerance and restraints had ended and he would take immediate action by suing the journalist.
“You have consistently defamed individuals, and whenever challenged, you retreat behind claims of persecution. No one is trying to silence you; the truth is you need to be exposed for the fraud that you are,” Suleman wrote.
The cleric described Sowore’s latest attempt to portray himself as a victim now that the matter is in court as laughable and cowardly.
“I am among those who genuinely believe Nigeria needs cleansing, but not through hypocrisy, deceit, or fake journalism. Fair reporting demands balance, verification, and truth, qualities you clearly have no regard for.
“Every unsubstantiated attack on pastors and churches in Nigeria, driven by your anti-church and anti-pastor agenda, will now face an appropriate legal response,” he declared.
He added that many prominent people had called on him to forgive Sowore over his regular harassment but after heeding the calls, he had decided to do the needful since Sowore had not stopped defaming him.
“Forgiveness is predicated on admission of guilt. One cannot forgive someone who has neither acknowledged wrongdoing nor shown remorse. As stated in 1 John 1:9, forgiveness follows confession, not denial.”
Addressing Sowore directly, Apostle Suleman said:
“You lied and defamed me, dragging my name into a fabricated story involving people I have never met and You were warned and given ample time to retract the falsehood, but you refused.
“Why the sudden attempt to play the victim simply because the matter is now in court?
“For eight years, I chose to ignore you. That restraint has now ended. Every further unsubstantiated attack on pastors and churches in Nigeria, driven by your anti-church and anti-pastor agenda, will no longer go without an appropriate legal response.”
