The Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), has warned residents of Adamawa State, especially in Christian dominated communities to either convert to Islam or be killed.
The warning came after the ISIS-affiliated group claimed responsibility for attacks on a Christian village and churches where over 14 people were killed on December 31, 2025.
Numerous homes and businesses were vandalized or burned in the attacks by the terrorists who struck the villages of Zah, Mubang Yadul, and Kijing, all in Hong Local Government Area of the state.
An American security expert and insurgency tracker, Brant Philip, who disclosed this in an X post on Friday along with a viral video of the terrorists burning down the community, said they issued the warning shortly after they carried out the carnage.
“ISWAP released an image of one of the Christian villages in Adamawa State burning, alongside a statement saying that all Christians in Nigeria are legitimate targets, and they have an opportunity to “spare their blood” by converting to Islam or paying the jizyah tax to ISWAP,” Philip wrote on X.
According to security experts, the move by ISWAP is perceived as retaliation for recent airstrikes carried out by the United States military against a terrorist enclave in Sokoto State.
