Nigerian rapper Naira Marley has reignited debate in the country’s entertainment industry by claiming that nearly all top artists are affiliated with cult groups, with fewer than five stars reportedly free from such ties.
The comments, shared on his official X page on Thursday, January 22, highlight what he described as a hidden but pervasive influence of cultism in the music sector.
According to the Marlian Music boss, many alliances in the industry are superficial, maintained not out of friendship but out of mutual interests and self-preservation. “Dem no kuku like each other; na because of us dem link up,” he wrote, suggesting that rivalries are often masked by temporary coalitions.
Naira Marley’s remarks follow long-standing speculation about the role of secret societies in the entertainment world, a topic that has gained prominence amid previous controversies, including the tragic death of his former signee, Mohbad.
The rapper also mocked industry figures who initiate others into cults yet rely on heavy police protection for personal security, pointing to the contradiction between alleged involvement in underground groups and dependence on law enforcement. His comments suggest a critique of both hypocrisy and the hidden power structures within the music scene.
