Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the son of former Kano State governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has resigned from his position as Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development.
The resignation was made public on Monday through a statement personally issued by Mustapha Kwankwaso and shared on his official Facebook page, confirming his decision to step aside from the Kano State Executive Council.
In the statement, he described the decision as a difficult one and formally announced his departure from the cabinet. He wrote:
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and member of the Kano State Executive Council.”
Kwankwaso used the opportunity to express appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for entrusting him with the role, noting that his time in office had been both instructive and rewarding.
“As I resign, I pray that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve. I hope for the best for our sports development programmes and initiatives, and I am confident that they will flourish in the years to come,” he added.
He concluded his message with prayers for Kano State and its leadership, saying: “May Allah (SWT) continue to shower His blessings on our beloved Kano State. I wish the government and people of Kano State all the best.”
The development comes against the backdrop of ongoing political shifts within the Kano State Government, following Governor Abba Yusuf’s recent departure from the NNPP, a move that has triggered wider realignments within the state’s political landscape.
