Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted permission to the former minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, to travel abroad for medical treatment.
Consequently, the judge on Monday ordered that the international passport of former Minister be released to him to enable him undertake the trip.
Nnaji had earlier deposited his travel document with the court as part of his bail conditions after he was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The former minister is facing a six-count charge bordering on alleged certificate forgery, false information and corruption. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The ICPC alleged that between August 2023 and October 2025, while serving as minister, Nnaji received ₦29.57 million in salaries and allowances, which the commission described as proceeds of unlawful acts.
The anti-graft agency also accused him of using his office to confer corrupt advantage on himself by receiving the payments.
The remaining charges relate to allegations that Nnaji presented and used a forged National Youth Service Corps certificate and a purported University of Nigeria, Nsukka degree certificate during the process of his ministerial appointment.
Nnaji has denied the allegations.
The court had earlier granted him bail in the sum of ₦20 million with one surety in like sum and directed him to surrender his passport and other travel documents.
The trial continues on October 26.
