FUOYE gets new PRO

The Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), has named its Chief Information Officer to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede as its Public Relations Officer (PRO).
Ogunmodede, a seasoned journalist took over from Mr. Yinka Ademuyiwa.
Ogunmodede, whose appointment as the university’s Public Relations Officer took effect from 1st September, 2021, joined the university as the Vice-Chancellor’s Chief Information Officer this year.

His appointment was contained in a letter dated 1st September, 2021 and signed by the university’s acting registrar, Mr. Mufutau. A. Ibrahim.
The letter reads: ” I am pleased to convey to you the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina to appoint you as the university Public Relations Officer with effect from 1st September, 2021 and until further notice.

“As the university Public Relations Officer, you will be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor in handling the underlisted duties among others: building strong connections with government’s agencies and other universities;
Managing Public Relations with regards to planning, coordinating and executing public relations activities and events at the university to promote a positive image; writing and distributing news releases, announcing important university information and managing every event on and off campus activities; and arranging media sessions with professionals/journalists as the need arises.”

Ogunmodede, a seasoned journalist until his appointment was the Deputy Editor ( News) of the Daily Telegraph, publisher of New Telegraph newspaper, Lagos.
He cut his journalism teeth at the now rested The Comet newspaper between 1998 and 2004.

He, however resigned his appointment from The Comet to join the Nation newspaper between 2004 and 2008, where he rose to become the Head of Legal Desk.

Four years after, he resigned from the Nation newspaper to become the Judiciary Editor of the now defunct The Compass newspaper between 2008 and 2013 where he resigned to join New Telegraph as the Judiciary Editor, where he rose to become Deputy Editor (News) and Coordinator Judiciary Desk.

He resigned from the New Telegraph to join the Federal University, Oye Ekiti on 1st April, 2021.
Ogunmodede attended Ondo State University, now Ekiti State University between 1986 and 1990 where he obtained his first degree before proceeding to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife for his postgraduate studies.

He also attended School of Media, Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, where he obtained a Certificate in Advanced Writing and Reporting Skills.
He is an experienced journalist, whose over two decades of active journalism would no doubt impact positively on FUOYE.

Meanwhile, his colleagues have lauded the Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina-led administration for the choice of Ogunmodede, who they said would no doubt live up to expectations and bring his wealth of over 20 years’ experience to bear on the university.

“We feel elated that a core professional in person of Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede has been appointed to oversee FUOYE’s corporate image. We congratulate the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina for this feat. We pledge our unalloyed support to the Vice-Chancellor, the new PRO and together we’ll take FUOYE’s corporate image to greater heights because with Mr. Ogunmodede coming on board, we have no doubt in our minds that he will bring his wealth of over 20years’ experience in active journalism to add more value to FUOYE’s corporate image, ” they said.
