In a major step toward accelerating Nigeria’s digital transformation, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) have formalised a strategic partnership to empower businesses and foster technology-driven growth.
The agreement was sealed on the sidelines of GITEX Nigeria through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, and the Director-General of NACCIMA, Engr. Olusola Obadimu.
The alliance marks a key milestone in the nation’s push to build an inclusive digital economy by bridging the gap between public sector policy and organized private sector execution.
Speaking shortly after the signing ceremony, the Director-General of NACCIMA described the accord as a timely intervention, noting that digital adoption has become imperative for enterprises seeking global competitiveness.
“It is an excellent arrangement to have this type of protocol on digitisation and digital transformation, especially for the private sector,” Obadimu said. “NACCIMA is the umbrella body of the organised private sector in Nigeria, and digital transformation is a necessity. There is no better partner to work with than NITDA, and we are happy to sign this MoU and move the partnership forward.”
Under the terms of the MoU, both organisations will collaborate across critical strategic pillars, including:
Enterprise Transformation: Accelerating digital adoption among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Ecosystem Platform: Developing a collaborative digital framework to connect government, tech firms, academia, and investors.
Capacity Building: Upskilling Nigerian businesses to navigate modern digital tools.
Institutional Support: Co-hosting and institutionalising the Digital Nigeria International Conference (DNICE) 2026 and subsequent editions.
Emphasizing the urgency of the initiative, Obadimu affirmed that both entities are set to commence immediate execution upon returning to their respective offices.
“We are going to hit the ground running. Nigerians will begin to see things happen almost instantaneously,” he added, pointing out that the pact holds vast opportunities for the nation’s youthful population driving digital entrepreneurship.
The initiative reinforces NITDA’s mandate to cultivate tech innovation and digital literacy while leveraging NACCIMA’s nationwide network across the organised private sector.
