The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has threatened to publicly disclose the details of an agreement he reached with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, should the governor fail to present it to the people of Rivers State.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Eleme Local Government Area on Wednesday, Wike emphasized that while his political gambles at the national level had yielded tangible benefits, the same could not be said of developments within Rivers State. He credited President Tinubu for honoring commitments, noting his own appointment as FCT Minister and the inclusion of Rivers indigenes in strategic federal positions as evidence of the state’s gains under the current administration.
“If he does not tell the Rivers people the agreement we had before Mr. President, I will tell them myself,” Wike declared.
The former governor also issued a stern warning to politicians from outside Rivers State, urging them to refrain from meddling in its political affairs. He insisted that only those familiar with the state’s political dynamics should participate, stressing Rivers’ resilience in past political battles.
Wike explained that his visit to Eleme was to appreciate the community’s longstanding support and to encourage continued backing for President Tinubu and local leaders as the new political season unfolds.
The meeting drew leaders from both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
