The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has dismissed as false a viral infographic claiming that the Federal Government plans to introduce a new vehicle tax from July 1.
In a statement issued by Mr. Dare Adekambi, Special Adviser to the NRS Chairman, Zach Adedeji, the agency said the circulating material is misleading and did not originate from any official source.
According to Adekambi, the infographic instructs owners of private, commercial, and corporate vehicles to pay an unspecified tax either online or through designated banks and agencies.
He noted that the document, which lacks any identifiable author, also directs the public to visit a website that does not belong to the agency, instead of the NRS’s official platform.
Adekambi emphasised that the Federal Government has not introduced any new tax on vehicles, contrary to the claims being circulated.
He urged Nigerians to rely only on verified government communication channels and to ignore anonymous content shared online.
