The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has felicitated with Nigerian workers on the occasion of the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, applauding their resilience, patriotism and invaluable contributions to the nation’s development.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Professor Yilwatda described Nigerian workers as the driving force behind the country’s growth and progress, commending their dedication and sacrifice across all sectors of the economy.

He particularly praised workers for their patience and perseverance amid prevailing economic challenges, noting that their steadfastness reflects the strength and determination of the Nigerian spirit.

The APC National Chairman reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to advancing policies and programmes aimed at improving workers’ welfare, protecting their dignity and creating greater economic opportunities for all Nigerians.

According to him, President Tinubu remains committed to building a worker-friendly economy, recognizing the critical role of labour in national development.

Professor Yilwatda noted that the administration’s ongoing economic reforms are necessary steps toward repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and long-term prosperity.

He explained that strategic policy decisions such as the removal of fuel subsidy, foreign exchange unification, increased infrastructure investments, expanded social intervention programmes and renewed emphasis on industrialization are designed to address structural economic challenges and lay the foundation for a stronger economy.

He added that the reforms are expected to boost productivity, strengthen economic stability, attract investment and generate more employment opportunities for Nigerians.

While acknowledging the temporary difficulties associated with the transition, Yilwatda assured that the Federal Government is implementing targeted measures to ease the burden on citizens and ensure that the benefits of the reforms are widely shared.

He expressed confidence that the sacrifices currently being made by Nigerian workers would yield positive results, leading to a more inclusive, resilient and prosperous economy.

The APC Chairman urged workers to remain hopeful, united and committed to supporting the nation’s development agenda, stressing that collective sacrifice and shared responsibility are essential to achieving national progress.

Professor Yilwatda also wished Nigerian workers a rewarding Workers’ Day celebration and prayed for continued strength, success and prosperity for them and their families.
