Media personality Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has lashed out at social media users who wished death on her following the passing of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo.
Alexx Ekubo reportedly died on May 11 after battling advanced-stage kidney cancer, a development that triggered an outpouring of tributes from fans, colleagues, and celebrities.
“How do you people sympathize with the dead but bully the living?” she said in the video. “Each time someone passes away and I see how people suddenly become sympathetic, I’m always surprised. If you read the comments people make when the person is alive, you’ll be shocked. Some people were even saying things like ‘God should take Blessing CEO and give us Alexx Ekubo.’ God will punish you all!”
She also defended the decision by Alexx Ekubo’s family to keep details of his illness away from social media, arguing that Nigerians would still have mocked the actor if photos of him during his sickness had surfaced online. According to her, the same people now mourning him would have used his condition to ridicule him while he was alive.
