Social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM) has responded to comments by Bayo Onanuga, a spokesman to President Bola Tinubu who called for his (VDM’s) arrest and prosecution.
Onanuga had earlier in a post on X (formerly Twitter) accused VDM of spreading a fake audio recording of the president, in which the Nigerian president was alleged to have said a few things concerning insecurity in the country, especially in the south-east part.
Consequently, Onanuga posted saying “This VDM needs to face the weight of the law for being the conveyor and disseminator of a fake audio of President Tinubu. This is a clear case of an egregious abuse of the social media platform”.
Responding likewise, VDM tagged Onanuga, as the “definition of a stupid old man”, and dared the Nigerian government to arrest him over the said fake audio recording.
The activist in a video posted on X stated that he would not defend the said fake audio, but instead pushed it to Onanuga to prove the accusation against him, adding, that “he who alleges must prove”.
VDM who said he was in China, negotiating for a power plant in Nigeria, claimed the said video of him, Onanuga’s comment and supporting comments calling for his arrest by other Twitter users was an orchestrated plan by the government to have him arrested and silenced because he was speaking against the current administration.
He dared the government to arrest him on his return to Nigeria, vowing to rather be in jail than keep silent on the situation in Nigeria.
VDM equally castigated Onanuga for not commenting on the insecurity and kidnapping situations in Nigeria, but being quick to comment on him because the issue involved politics and elections.
He lamented that on Children’s Day, the teachers and pupils who were kidnapped from schools in Oyo State were still in captivity, yet Onanuga did not comment on such.
