Regulators, investors, financial institutions, enterprises and startups are set to converge in Lagos on September 3 for the GITEX NIGERIA FDX Summit, as stakeholders seek to accelerate the development of modern financial ecosystems through capital mobilisation, policy reform and digital integration.
The summit, which will hold at the Landmark Centre, Lagos, is part of the second edition of GITEX NIGERIA, West Africa’s largest technology, artificial intelligence and startup exhibition, taking place in Abuja and Lagos from August 31 to September 3, 2026.
Held under the patronage of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GITEX NIGERIA is supported by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and endorsed by the Lagos State Government.

The event is organised by KAOUN International, global organiser of GITEX events.
With Africa’s digital payments economy projected to reach $1.5 trillion by 2030, the FDX Summit is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to examine how technology can reshape financial access, strengthen critical infrastructure and unlock new investment opportunities across the continent.
The summit will bring together regulators, institutional investors, enterprises and high-growth startups to explore investment opportunities, financial inclusion, regulatory reform, digital assets, capital markets, cross-border finance and collaboration across sectors.
Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, said Lagos remained committed to developing a technology-driven financial ecosystem capable of expanding access and creating economic opportunities.
“As the commercial and innovation engine of West Africa, Lagos is committed to building a modern, tech-driven financial ecosystem that leaves no one behind.
“FDX at GITEX NIGERIA represents a pivotal platform to shape forward-looking policy and accelerate bold financial innovations. By aligning future banking and finance policy with cutting-edge digital infrastructure, we can deepen financial inclusion, unlock seamless cross-border trade, and catalyse sustainable economic value.
“Forward-thinking financial policies shall empower the entrepreneurial ambitions of Lagosians and drive the digital transformation of Nigeria’s US$1 trillion economy ambition,” he said.
The summit is also expected to focus on the mobilisation of institutional capital to support Nigeria’s economic transformation, with the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) highlighting the importance of converting public-sector assets into productive investment opportunities.
Ahead of his keynote address at the summit, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of MOFI, Dr Armstrong Ume Takang, said Nigeria’s $1 trillion economic ambition would require effective mobilisation of institutional capital.
“Unlocking Nigeria’s US$1 trillion economic ambition requires moving beyond policy intent to the effective mobilisation of institutional capital.
“At MOFI, we aim to professionalise the management of government-owned assets while pursuing a long-term vision to build a ₦100 trillion portfolio that can catalyse investment, strengthen strategic sectors, and create sustainable national value.
“FDX at GITEX NIGERIA provides a timely platform to connect policymakers, investors, and innovators, advancing the partnerships needed to accelerate economic transformation and position Nigeria as a leading financial and investment hub,” Takang said.
Stakeholders to examine Africa’s financial future
The summit will examine emerging trends in intelligent payments, digital assets, decentralised finance, institutional capital and financial infrastructure, with discussions focused on increasing capital flows, expanding market participation and promoting inclusive growth.
International experts are also expected to examine challenges around trust, compliance, institutional participation, borderless payments, digital identity, financial inclusion and policy coordination in emerging markets.
Among the headline sessions is **“Access to Real World Assets and the Rewiring of Capital Markets in Africa,”** which will explore how the continent can connect its underlying assets and growing pools of capital with investable markets to expand participation and create new economic value.
Another key session, **“Trust by Design: Navigating the Security Paradoxes Holding Back Digital Assets and CBDCs,”** will examine how financial institutions can balance security, innovation and confidence as digital assets move closer to mainstream implementation.
Confirmed international speakers include Jean Kambuni, Deputy Director, Capital Markets, Nairobi International Financial Centre (NIFC), Kenya; Erwin Anet N’guetta, Chief Digital Officer for Operational Excellence, Digital Transformation and Innovation, National Bank of Investment, Côte d’Ivoire; and Henry Amadiegwu, Chief Information Officer, Zenith Bank UK.
Amadiegwu said artificial intelligence, automation, modern infrastructure and technological integration would be critical to building resilient and compliant digital financial ecosystems across Africa.
“As Africa advances towards a more inclusive digital financial future, the intelligent use of AI, automation, modern infrastructure, and technological integration will be critical to building agile, secure, resilient, and compliant-by-design ecosystems.
“This is why FDX at GITEX NIGERIA is so significant. It brings global stakeholders together to accelerate Africa’s transition from legacy platforms to modern, globally aligned standards, combining innovation with trust, security, resilience, and regulatory compliance.
“Ultimately, the goal is not technology for technology’s sake, but ensuring that next-generation finance creates sustainable value and delivers greater access and opportunity to people and businesses across Africa,” he said.
