Nigerian dancer and entertainer, Poco Lee’s plea hearing in the United Kingdom has been fixed for February 8, 2027, while his trial is scheduled to begin on March 8, 2027.
The latest development was disclosed by Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as Oluomo of Derby, after he attended court proceedings on Tuesday concerning the case involving the Nigerian entertainer.
Kuti said he had earlier informed the public that he would attend the proceedings and subsequently provided an update on the outcome of Tuesday’s court session.
Plea hearing fixed for February
“I was in court today, as I mentioned in my last tweet, regarding the case involving one of our Nigerian brothers, Poco Lee,” Kuti said.
According to Kuti, the court has now scheduled Poco Lee’s plea hearing for February 8, 2027. His trial is expected to commence on March 8, 2027, marking the next major stages in the ongoing proceedings.
The development follows earlier reports that Poco Lee was being held on remand in a UK prison while awaiting further court proceedings. Kuti had previously disclosed in August that the entertainer was expected to appear before a UK court in September for a plea hearing.
However, the latest update indicates that the plea hearing will now take place in February 2027, with the trial scheduled to start one month later.
Public urged to avoid premature judgment
Kuti also appealed to members of the public to allow the judicial process to run its course and avoid reaching conclusions based solely on allegations or information circulating publicly.
He stressed the importance of the presumption of innocence throughout the proceedings, particularly as the case has generated public interest in Nigeria and among Nigerians in the United Kingdom.
“Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and that principle must be respected throughout the entire process,” Kuti said.
The latest court dates mean the case involving Poco Lee is expected to remain before the UK judicial system into 2027. The entertainer will have the opportunity to respond to the allegations through the legal process as the proceedings continue.
Earlier reports had confirmed that the case remained active and that Poco Lee was scheduled to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court. UK prosecutors had also confirmed that the case was still live.
Poco Lee, whose career spans dancing and entertainment, has remained the subject of considerable public attention since news of the UK proceedings emerged. His supporters and members of the public have consequently been urged to refrain from treating allegations as established facts before the court reaches a determination.
The next significant development in the case is therefore expected to be the plea hearing on February 8, 2027, followed by the commencement of the trial on March 8, 2027.
