SuperSport viewers on DStv and GOtv enjoyed another great weekend of football action, with the continuation of the Premier League and La Liga in their 2019/20 campaigns.

African stars once again took centre stage across these major European leagues, with the likes of Sadio Mane, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and rising star Anssumane Fati putting their names up in lights.

Senegalese star Mane netted twice as Liverpool retained their 100 percent record in the Premier League with a 3-1 win over Newcastle United. The victory over the Magpies also featured a goal from Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah and the pair will look to continue their form this week when the Reds first face Napoli in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, before taking on Chelsea in a domestic clash this coming Sunday – both games will be live on SuperSport.

Southampton’s Malian winger Moussa Djenepo continued his rise to prominence by scoring the only goal of the game in the Saints’ win away to Sheffield United, and he will be itching to find the net again in a South Coast derby against Bournemouth on Friday night.

The Premier League’s other notable African performer was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with the Gabonese striker scoring both of Arsenal’s goals in a 2-2 draw with Watford on Sunday. The prolific striker will test his skills against Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, before another Premier League clash against Aston Villa this coming weekend.

One of the emerging superstars in La Liga has been Guinea-Bissau forward Anssumane Fati, who has helped Barcelona sooth some of the pain of missing Lionel Messi through injury. The 16-year-old African player scored his second senior goal this past weekend (and registered an assist) as the Blaugrana trumped Valencia 5-2 at the Camp Nou.

SuperSport viewers can watch on as Fati is likely to have his first taste of UEFA Champions League action when Barcelona play away to Borussia Dortmund in arguably the pick of Tuesday night’s games, before another domestic clash awaits on the weekend, as Ernesto Valverde takes his side to Granada on Saturday night.
