Reality TV star and Big Brother Naija winner, Phyna, has spoken candidly about the challenges she faced with family members after achieving fame and financial success.
During a live session, the reality star revealed that she spent a significant amount of money supporting relatives following her victory on the reality show, believing she was doing the right thing by helping those around her. According to her, she freely attended to requests for financial assistance without giving much thought to saving or investing.
Phyna lamented that none of the older family members around her encouraged her to secure her future financially. Instead, she claimed many relatives constantly approached her with requests ranging from personal needs to major projects, including business support and community-related expenses.
Recalling the experience, she said the situation changed the moment she began declining some of the requests. The reality star explained that refusing to meet every demand led to misunderstandings and tension within the family, making her appear like the “bad person” despite her previous generosity.
She also referenced an earlier disagreement involving a house roofing project for her father, noting that one of her first major conflicts arose when she suggested opting for a more affordable roofing option rather than the expensive choice being requested.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Phyna said she eventually realized her finances were dwindling and began reducing the amounts she gave out. She added that the experience taught her difficult lessons about boundaries, financial management, and the expectations that often come with sudden wealth and fame.
